Salsa night in Harare

I organized a salsa night in Harare last Friday! Aaaand it was awesome!

There was a lady from the Netherlands who was planning salsa nights here every two weeks for the past couple of months, but she recently went back to Europe so I asked to take over. She was very nice to give me some of her music before she left and she also sent an invite to her mailing list.
I created a simple website to list salsa events in Harare - www.salsaharare.com - so I hope that as this community grows, the website will become a good source of information for all.

The salsa night was at the Small World Lodge - one of the few lodges/hostels/backpackers in Harare. The owner, George, let me use the space for free! There were about 20 people. For an almost non-existent salsa community here, that's pretty good :) Even my neighbors came!

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves a lot so I talked to George and we decided to make it a recurring event - every two weeks! I also thought that it would be nice to use this event for more than just having fun, so starting from next time everybody will pay $2 at the door, and all of the money will go to charity! George started an orphanage (Child Future Africa) a few years ago. It's fairly small (25-30 children), located about 100 miles away from Harare and it will benefit well from money raised during the salsa nights :)

I admire your skills to make things happen and use them to help others. We all need to acquire some of those! Keep up the good work buddy!
