Starfish and Coconuts

My first weekend in Mozambique was quite the adventure. I joined a few other VSO volunteers for a weekend vacation to Inhaca, an island 2 hours off the coast of Maputo. It was amazing. We spent most of Saturday on the beach, laying around, swimming and playing. We made friends with some of the local kids who were incredibly friendly and curious. Every once in a while they would go play in the water and bring out a star fish or two… I'd never seen a live starfish before…

By the end of the day we were all a different shade of pink - some (me) even red - having sun-burnt pretty well. I even got a nice tan mark of my ONE band on my wrist - it was classic.

Sunday afternoon after resting pretty well we went to the small market in the town of Inhaca. I had coconut water, right from the coconut, for the first time :) it was refreshing.
